Why is it that I have an ear infection, but I didn't even know until I went to the doctor?

It could have been very early in the ear infection, so you weren't feeling pain yet. If you are very pain tolerant, you may just not have felt it. Lucky for you. Ear infections for me have always been extremely painful.
