Can i use a phone from a diffrent company with my company?!?

please help. i have a crappy rumor but thats like the best phone i can get at alltel without haveing a crazy contract! and i want to get the blackjack soo bad but my mom wont let me switch companies so i was going to get it from ebay and switch the phone on my contract but im not sure if i can ndo that?!
