Is this a lame gift for my bridesmaids?

As I have a small budget and not a lot of extra money floating around, I was thinking of making my 3 bridesmaids a necklace and a flower to put in their hair. The necklaces would be ivory gl pearl beads with gold and dark purple swarovski crystals, the flower is just a simple ivory silk magnolia with an alligator clip. The necklaces are going to run about $5 each because of the crystals and the flowers were $1 each. I'm doing the same jewelery and hair piece for myself. Is it wrong to make it and give it to them as a gift? I don't want them to feel obligated to wear it, but I can't really afford much else and thought some jewelry and something to put in their hair would be nice.
