What is the mona lisa supposed to mean?

Its not really necessary that an artwork has to mean something. Some are just painted to express beauty. Others are made for fun. Others are made because some people pay them to do so. Others are experiments (and Leonardo is well known for that). He might or might not have anything to say with this portrait, probable just to show beauty as he seen it.
